About Us

Welcome 🌹 My name is Olena, and this blog is a personal record of how my 78-year-old mother and I completely transformed our lifestyle, diet, and approach to managing Type 2 diabetes and body weight.

Type 2 diabetes has been part of our family story for generations. My mother has lived with the condition for over 20 years, alongside hereditary factors and long-term struggles with excess weight.

In late spring 2026, during a routine medical examination, we faced a serious wake-up call: asymptomatic diabetic maculopathy and macular edema 😔 It was a turning point. We realized that relying solely on medication was not enough—we needed a complete overhaul of our daily nutrition, habits, and monitoring routines.

We took immediate action under professional medical supervision 🤝 While my mother underwent targeted ophthalmic procedures prescribed by her specialists in Kyiv, we made the crucial decision to restructure her diet. To support her fully, I adopted the exact same balanced meal plan alongside her.

Within two months of consistent effort, our combined approach yielded remarkable milestones that we are truly proud of ✨

— My mother's body weight dropped from 102 kg (224 lbs) in May to 93.5 kg (206 lbs) by August at a height of 165 cm 📉

— Her fasting blood sugar levels stabilized from 10–12 mmol/L down to a healthy range of 5.5–6.5 mmol/L 🎯

— Ophthalmic check-ups confirmed a complete resolution of retinal edema in one eye and significant improvement in the other 👁️

— Working closely with our endocrinologist, we successfully optimized her ongoing medication therapy.

On this site, I document our daily meal plans, carbohydrate-conscious recipes, and practical observation logs 💡

This blog serves as a real-life case study and an encouraging space for anyone looking to support aging parents, manage blood sugar naturally through lifestyle, and improve overall well-being at any age ❤️
